As part of an ongoing effort to address non-medical drivers that impact health outcomes, Çï¿ûapp joined students and teachers in Tallahassee as featured sponsor of Storybook Village at the 2023 Children’s Week on March 28.

As part of its commitment to collaborate with community organizations throughout the State of Florida, Çï¿ûapp emphasized the importance of early childhood education while thousands of children from across the state flooded into the Capitol’s North Lawn. Amid the booths, activities and fun, Cuddles the Çï¿ûapp bear assisted in the crucial business of building awareness for literacy among Florida’s children, which was the primary focus of Storybook Village.

"Çï¿ûapp believes that every child has the right to be healthy, educated, and able to reach their full potential," said Angie Carey, senior director of community-based partnerships at Çï¿ûapp. "We know that health and literacy are connected, and people with lower reading skills tend to have less health-related knowledge and more difficulty navigating the health care system. That's why Çï¿ûapp has dedicated teams that partner with organizations across the community to promote literacy."

Literacy is one of the many non-medical drivers that impact health outcomes and is part of the Çï¿ûapp mission to break down the barriers that impede health access across the nation.

Later in the week, Çï¿ûapp will underscore its commitment to addressing these health barriers by announcing the first 10 recipients of the Çï¿ûapp Foundation Florida Grant Challenge. In a statewide rollout, the Çï¿ûapp Foundation will award a total of $400,000 to community-based organizations and nonprofits throughout Florida focused on demonstrating effective, practical solutions to address the needs of children and youth in medically complex care.

Çï¿ûapp is a nonprofit, nationally recognized managed care organization with over 2.3 million members. Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio since its founding in 1989, Çï¿ûapp administers one of the largest Medicaid managed care plans in the U.S. The organization offers health insurance, including Medicaid, Health Insurance Marketplace and Medicare products. As a mission-driven organization, Çï¿ûapp is transforming health care with innovative programs that address the social determinants of health, health equity, prevention and access to care.  Çï¿ûapp Florida Co. was formed to offer programs and products in the state of Florida.
